History
The Borussia Dortmund 2014/15away shirt is a fantastic collector's piece because it belongs to the final part of the Jürgen Klopp era and features a particularly classic Dortmund design: black with fineyellow pinstripes. It was made by Puma and sponsored by Evonik. Manufacturer: Puma
It's actually a very understated Dortmund away shirt compared with some of their more experimental kits. The black/yellow combination is quintessential BVB, and the pinstripes give it a slightly retro appearance.
This was a strange and memorable season for Dortmund.
After finishing second in the Bundesliga in 2013/14, Klopp's team suffered an extraordinary collapse during the first half of 2014/15.
At the winter break, Dortmund were bottom of the Bundesliga.
They recovered dramatically in the second half and eventually finished 7th.
It was also the final season of Jürgen Klopp's seven-year reign. He announced in April 2015 that he would leave at the end of the season.
So this shirt effectively represents the end of the Klopp era at Dortmund.
Key players
Marco Reus — No. 11
The obvious superstar associated with this shirt. Reus was Dortmund's creative and attacking focal point and scored 11 goals in all competitions, including seven in the Bundesliga and three in the Champions League.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang — No. 17
This was the season when Aubameyang was becoming one of Europe's elite forwards. He scored a phenomenal 25 goals in all competitions:
His speed made him devastating on the counterattack.
Shinji Kagawa — No. 7
Kagawa returned to Dortmund from Manchester United in September 2014 and immediately became an important part of the team again.
He scored six goals in all competitions, including five in the Bundesliga.
Mats Hummels — No. 15
The captain and defensive leader. Hummels was one of the defining players of Klopp's Dortmund and had just won the 2014 World Cup with Germany.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan — No. 10
The Armenian attacking midfielder was another major part of Klopp's attack.
He scored five goals in all competitions and was especially important creatively.
İlkay Gündoğan — No. 8
One of the most technically gifted midfielders in the squad.
Gündoğan returned from his serious back injury and scored three Bundesliga goals during the season.
