How every shirt is checked
Before a shirt is listed it goes through the same inspection, by hand, in person:
- Construction. Cut, panelling, seam type and stitching are, where possible, compared against period-correct examples of the same season and manufacturer. We do not always have an original to hand for direct comparison.
- Labels. Neck label, wash label and size label are checked for the correct format, font and material for the year.
- Product code. The manufacturer product code is matched against the known code for that shirt and season.
- Badges and sponsors. Application method matters — embroidered, woven, screen printed or heat pressed, each era did it differently.
- Wear. The way an original ages is difficult to fake. Fabric hand, print cracking and fading all tell us something.
What we publish
Every listing carries the season, size as labelled, manufacturer, product code, a condition grade out of ten, and full flat measurements. Any notable fault is called out in the description rather than hidden in the photographs.
A note on condition
These shirts are vintage, aged and normally used, so they will almost always show some degree of wear. That is part of what they are. What we promise is that what you see and read is exactly what arrives.
