History
USD Bitonto had a particularly significant 2019/20 season. The club played in Serie D Girone H, with Roberto Taurino as head coach and Kappa as the technical supplier. The shirt sponsor was Marbel.
2019/20 season
The season was stopped after 26 matches in March 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time of the suspension, Bitonto were 1st in Girone H, having recorded 16 wins, 7 draws and 3 defeats, with 45 goals scored and only 10 conceded.
The FIGC initially confirmed promotion to Serie C based on the standings. However, in August 2020 the Federal Tribunal imposed a five-point deduction relating to the investigation into the 5 May 2019 Picerno–Bitonto match. The decision was upheld on appeal in September, leaving Bitonto in Serie D and allowing Foggia to take the Serie C place.
Key players
Cosimo "Kikko" Patierno – The outstanding attacking figure. He scored 20 league goals during the 2019/20 campaign and was the club's leading scorer.
Antonio Figliola – First-choice goalkeeper, making 23 appearances in the league.
