History
The 2013/14 Real Madrid season is one of the most iconic in the club's history. Under new manager Carlo Ancelotti, Madrid won the Copa del Rey and, most importantly, finally captured La Décima — their 10th European Cup/Champions League.
La Décima
The defining moment came on 24 May 2014 in Lisbon.
Real Madrid faced city rivals Atlético Madrid in the Champions League final. Atlético led 1–0 from Diego Godín's first-half header and appeared destined to win.
Then came Sergio Ramos' 93rd-minute equaliser.
In extra time, Madrid took control:

After 12 years of waiting, Real Madrid had finally won their tenth European Cup.
Key players
Cristiano Ronaldo — The superstar
This was arguably Ronaldo's greatest Champions League campaign.
He scored a record 17 goals in the competition, including the final's fourth goal. He finished as the tournament's top scorer by a huge margin.
Ronaldo was also the centerpiece of Madrid's attack throughout the season, combining extraordinary finishing with explosive runs from the left.

Sergio Ramos — The hero
Ramos became immortalized by his 93rd-minute header in the final.
But his importance went beyond that one goal. He was a leader at centre-back, extremely aggressive in duels and dangerous from set pieces.
He also scored two goals against Bayern Munich in the semi-final.

Gareth Bale — The explosive new star
Madrid had signed Bale from Tottenham in 2013 for a then-world-record-level transfer fee, and he delivered on the biggest stage.
He scored the extra-time winner in the Champions League final, while also producing one of the most famous goals in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.
Bale's combination of speed, power and left-footed finishing gave Madrid a completely different dimension.

Ángel Di María — The underrated engine
Di María was arguably the most important tactical player behind the famous attacking trio.
Ancelotti transformed him into a more central/left-sided midfielder, where his energy, ball carrying and defensive work became crucial.
UEFA recorded 6 Champions League assists, second only to Wayne Rooney's 8.
Modrić became increasingly important under Ancelotti.
Alongside Xabi Alonso and later Di María, he helped Madrid transition from Mourinho's more direct style into Ancelotti's fluid attacking football.

Karim Benzema — The link man
Benzema completed the attacking structure.
While Ronaldo and Bale received much of the attention, Benzema's movement, passing and ability to combine with both wingers made the attack work.

Xabi Alonso — The midfield brain
Although he missed the Champions League final through suspension, Alonso was enormously important during the campaign.
He provided the team with composure, long-range passing and positional intelligence.
Iker Casillas — The captain
Casillas remained Madrid's captain and goalkeeper.
He made several important saves during the Champions League campaign, although his mistake leading to Atlético's goal in the final made the comeback even more dramatic.
