Managed by Dutch legend Marco van Basten, the Netherlands were drawn into an extremely difficult Group C alongside Italy, France and Romania.
They were spectacular in the group:
Netherlands 3–0 Italy — 9 June 2008
Netherlands 4–1 France — 13 June 2008
Netherlands 2–0 Romania — 17 June 2008
They therefore finished 1st with three wins from three, scoring 9 goals and conceding just 1.
Unfortunately, the Dutch then met Russia in the quarter-final. Guus Hiddink's Russian side won 3–1 after extra time, ending what had looked like a potential championship-winning campaign.

Wesley Sneijder — No. 10 The Real Madrid midfielder was arguably the star of the tournament for Holland. He scored against both Italy and France and was at the centre of their attacking play.

FGH Bank was the Dutch specialist commercial-property bank, and its own advertising deliberately used football imagery and football language.
This shirt's FGHbank logo isn't just a generic "FGH Bank" wordmark. It is the FGHbank / DE VASTGOEDBANK branding used in the bank's contemporary marketing.
The logo application is actually a period-correct corporate customization.
