History
The 2021/22 season was a hugely important one in Celtic's modern history. Ange Postecoglou's first season in charge saw Celtic rebuild after losing the Scottish Premiership to Rangers, and they responded by winning the league title and League Cup. It was the beginning of the highly successful "Ange-ball" era.

Celtic finished the league with 93 points, recording 29 wins, 6 draws and only 3 defeats. They scored 80 goals and conceded 18.
It was an extraordinary turnaround. Postecoglou had arrived in the summer with Celtic having just endured a disappointing 2020/21 campaign, but he completely transformed the side.
Ange arrives
Postecoglou inherited a squad that had lost several important players, including captain Scott Brown, and there was considerable uncertainty around the club.
He responded with a major recruitment drive.
Among the most important arrivals were:

Jota — Benfica, initially on loan
Cameron Carter-Vickers — Tottenham, loan
Joe Hart — Tottenham
Carl Starfelt — Rubin Kazan

The recruitment completely changed Celtic's playing style.
The League Cup
The first major trophy of the Postecoglou era arrived in December.
Celtic beat Hibernian 2–1 in the final at Hampden Park.
Hibs took the lead, but Kyogo Furuhashi scored twice to turn the game around.
It was particularly significant because Kyogo had only joined Celtic that summer, and his performance immediately established him as a major star.
It was Celtic's 20th League Cup triumph.
Winning the Scottish Premiership
The title race with Rangers was extremely tight.
Celtic eventually secured the championship with a 6–0 victory over Motherwell on 14 May 2022.
The title was Celtic's 52nd Scottish league championship and their first since 2019/20.
The transformation under Postecoglou was remarkable: Celtic had gone from losing the previous season's title by a huge margin to reclaiming it at the first attempt.
Key Players
Kyogo Furuhashi
The star of the season.
Kyogo arrived from Vissel Kobe and immediately became a sensation.
He scored 20 goals in all competitions, including 12 in the Premiership and three in the League Cup.
His two goals in the League Cup final made him an instant Celtic hero.
He combined:

The SPFL named him in its 2021/22 Premiership Team of the Season.
Jota
Jota was arguably the most exciting player in the team.
On loan from Benfica, he terrorised Scottish defenders with his dribbling and creativity.
His league statistics were outstanding:
10 goals + 10 assists
The SPFL also selected him in its Premiership Team of the Season.
His performances were so good that Celtic subsequently made the move permanent.
Cameron Carter-Vickers
One of the most important defensive signings.
Initially on loan from Tottenham, Carter-Vickers became a hugely reliable centre-back.
His strength, positioning and composure helped transform Celtic's defence.
Sky Sports subsequently identified him as one of the five key players in Celtic's title-winning campaign.
Joe Hart
Another hugely important summer signing.
Hart brought experience and leadership to a position that had been a problem for Celtic.
He kept 26 clean sheets in all competitions, including 19 in the Premiership.
His save in the dying seconds of the League Cup final helped Celtic hold onto their 2–1 victory.
Callum McGregor
With Scott Brown leaving, McGregor became the central figure in midfield and was eventually appointed club captain.
He provided:

consistency
He was arguably the emotional and tactical bridge between the old Celtic side and Postecoglou's new team.
Reo Hatate
Arriving in January, Hatate made an immediate impact.
His performance in the 3–0 Old Firm victory over Rangers was one of the defining individual displays of the season.
He scored twice and assisted another.
Although he only arrived halfway through the season, he became an important component of Postecoglou's midfield.
Josip Juranović
One of the most impressive full-backs in Scotland.
Juranović was technically excellent and unusually dangerous going forward.
He also became a penalty specialist and scored several important goals.
Liel Abada
The young Israeli winger was another excellent signing.
He scored 15 goals in all competitions, including 10 in the Premiership.
For a player still adapting to Scottish football, his goalscoring contribution was extremely impressive.
