History
Poland's 2022 campaign was centred around their qualification for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar under manager Czesław Michniewicz. Poland secured their place at the tournament after defeating Sweden 2-0 in the European play-off final.
At the World Cup, Poland were drawn into Group C alongside Argentina, Mexico and Saudi Arabia. They opened with a 0-0 draw against Mexico before recording a crucial 2-0 victory over Saudi Arabia, with Piotr Zieliński and Robert Lewandowski scoring.
Poland then lost 2-0 to Argentina but still progressed to the Round of 16, finishing second in the group. It was Poland's first appearance in the World Cup knockout stage since 1986.
In the Round of 16, Poland faced eventual finalists France. France won 3-1, with Robert Lewandowski scoring a late penalty, bringing Poland's World Cup campaign to an end.
