The 2011/12 season was Arsenal's 20th Premier League campaign and the club's 125th anniversary season, managed by Arsène Wenger.
After a difficult start, Arsenal recovered strongly and finished 3rd in the Premier League, securing Champions League qualification. They finished with 70 points, scoring 74 goals and conceding 49.
Premier League: 3rd
FA Cup: 5th round
Champions League: Round of 16 — eliminated by AC Milan
Biggest Premier League win: Arsenal 7–1 Blackburn Rovers
Top scorer: Robin van Persie — 30 Premier League goals
Most appearances: Wojciech Szczęsny and Robin van Persie — 38 league appearances each.
The season is particularly remembered for Robin van Persie's extraordinary goalscoring, which earned him the Premier League Golden Boot with 30 goals.
Robin van Persie — The outstanding player of the campaign. He scored 30 Premier League goals and 37 in all competitions, winning the Golden Boot.
Theo Walcott — Provided pace and goals from the right side, finishing with 8 league goals and 8 assists.
Alexandre Song — An important defensive midfielder who also contributed 11 league assists.
Mikel Arteta — Joined from Everton and became an important part of Wenger's midfield.
Laurent Koscielny — Established himself as one of Arsenal's principal centre-backs.
Thomas Vermaelen — Another key defender and an important source of goals, scoring six in all competitions.
Wojciech Szczęsny — Arsenal's first-choice goalkeeper, starting all 38 Premier League matches.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain — The 18-year-old was one of the season's emerging young players.
Thierry Henry — Returned to Arsenal on a short-term loan in January 2012, scoring in both the Premier League and the FA Cup.
This is one of Arsenal's most distinctive Nike shirts of the period.
The 2011/12 away shirt was predominantly navy blue and turquoise, with a dramatic diagonal split across the front. It was part of Arsenal's 125th anniversary collection.
The diagonal division wasn't simply a design choice: Arsenal explained that it represented the gnomon (pointer) of a sundial, commemorating the original Dial Square site in Woolwich where the club was founded in 1886.
The anniversary crest incorporated 15 laurel leaves, 15 oak leaves, the dates 1886 and 2011, and Arsenal's historic motto "Forward."
This is also the shirt strongly associated with van Persie's 30-goal Golden Boot season, making it a particularly interesting version for a historical shirt collection.
This is the 2011/12 Nike Away Shirt.

Every shirt is inspected by hand before it is listed. We check construction, neck and wash labels, stitching, sponsor and badge application, and the manufacturer product code against period-correct examples. Only shirts that pass are photographed, graded and added to the Vault. If a shirt is not an authentic original, we do not sell it.
These shirts are vintage, aged and normally used, so they will almost always show some degree of wear. Each listing carries a condition grade out of ten and any notable fault is called out in the description. Sizing on older shirts differs from modern sizing — always go by the pit-to-pit and length measurements listed, not the size on the label.
Why this shirt costs what it costs
A reproduction and an original can look identical in a listing photo. Drag the slider to see the difference, and what we checked on this exact shirt before it was listed.
Three steps, every single time. No shortcuts, no exceptions.
Step one
We track down originals across Europe: private collectors, club sales, and the people who were actually there.
Step two
Construction, neck and wash labels, stitching, sponsor application and product code, all checked by hand against period-correct examples.
Step three
Photographed in detail, graded out of ten with full measurements, then shipped worldwide tracked and insured from Spain, with reduced rates on more than one shirt.
Go by the flat measurements in the description, not the size on the label. Sizing on older shirts is nothing like modern sizing. Lay a shirt you already own flat, measure pit to pit and length, and compare. Not sure? Send us the listing and we will tell you honestly.
This shirt is vintage, aged and normally used, so it will show some degree of wear. The condition grade out of ten and any notable fault are stated in the description above. Nothing is hidden in the photographs.
Every shirt is an authentic original from its season, found and checked by hand before it is listed. Stock is limited and often a single piece, so when one sells it is usually gone for good.
