History
Napoli's 2020/21 campaign saw Gennaro Gattuso lead the club through a competitive Serie A season. The Partenopei finished fifth with 77 points, recording 24 wins and scoring 86 league goals. They narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification, finishing just one point behind Juventus in fourth place.
Napoli also reached the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia and competed in the Europa League, where they were eliminated by Granada in the round of 32. Despite missing out on their main objective, the season featured several impressive performances from a squad combining established stars with exciting young talent.
The campaign featured club captain Lorenzo Insigne, Belgian forward Dries Mertens and Spanish midfielder Fabián Ruiz, while Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen began his Napoli career following his arrival from Lille.
Key players
Lorenzo Insigne – Napoli's captain and creative leader, Insigne contributed goals, assists and attacking quality throughout the campaign. His technical ability and connection with the club made him one of the team's most influential players.
